At 76 years, in 2025, I have the benefit of looking back and observing what went down. I am a Golden Gal who has had quite a fascinating life. Imagine being born in a village in Kenya, Africa, surviving a war (Kenya, like America, kicked the British out of our county in 1963!), and at 21 years of age you find yourself in America - the most powerful country on the planet.
You either swim or sink.
I chose to swim, which I do not actually do in real life. My memoir "Simply A Journey: A Journey of a Young Woman from Africa to America with Courage and Determination" details my journey. As the byline states, it took a lot of courage and determination. So many 'Angels' dressed up as humans and opportunities made this happen for me. The largest was receiving the International Scholarship to America in 1970 where I studied the sciences as a premed student.
When I graduated, I did not return to Kenya because my dear father had a husband chosen for me. Instead, I got a job at the largest pharmaceutical company, SmithKline Glaxo, as a clinical research chemist creating tests. Eventually, I was tasked with selling them to hospitals in America and Canada. I was honored in the President Club for high achievers not once but three times. Life was exciting and fun as I made my mark as the best representative for the labs.
At 37 years of age I became a mother who had to combine motherhood and a career. I answered the call and excelled in both with the support of a wonderful stay at home dad. My only daughter attended private schools and graduated from Georgetown University of International Relations. Now she is a successful corporate marketing director, happily married, with two cats, and owns a house in Windsor Hill.
After retirement from my medical sales career of 31 years in 2010, I spent time traveling to sixteen countries learning their cultures and religions, until Covid 19 put a stop to that.
But I finally had time to write my memoirs. I had long dreamed of writing down and sharing my stories from all over the world. "Simply a Journey" is my story from Africa to America, with courage and determination, and how I ended up where I am today. Aiding, assisting, and support all those who have a big dream, like I had, and needs a coach along the way.
Journey On in all areas of life.
