My Perceptions and Musings
March 29, 2025
As a native of Kenya, one is considered a young adult at the age of 25. With the support of mom and dad removed one is now ready to learn and grow on their own. I sometimes think of life akin to a garden, and each of us is given a plot of land to plant whatever we choose to grow.
How do we know what to plant? By identifying what we desire to Be-Do-Have in each stage of our life. For example, this was my time to attend college and get my degrees so that I could be a clinical chemist in my chosen career. Life has seasons: A time to sow and a time to reap. Like a garden, weeds (issues/challenges) will grow and we must prune and remove them. Every plot of land will experience different plants depending on one’s stage of life. However, weeds will always attempt to overwhelm the garden. The gardener has to be vigilant and keep tending to their garden (goals, career, passions) at each stage. The most challenging ‘stage’ is that of parenting, if one has chosen to “Grow little One’s.” I found it very intense to raise a daughter and maintain a corporate career with a lot of travel. By preparing and tending my garden as best I could to support us she is now 39 and successful. At this stage, I am now planting my Life Legacy Coaching as my gift to this planet that has been so generous in providing for me, I’m grateful.
A thought from A Course In Miracles: The world you see is an outward picture of your inner world.
Perceiver=Thought.
Perception=Picture/Visualization.
Perceived=Manifestation=Effect one sees and experiences in their everyday present moment.
In other words, it’s YOUR life garden. If you don’t like what’s growing, you have the power to weed, prune, fertilize, and sow new seeds wherever necessary. Get your hands dirty. The Uni-Verse has no judgment.
Are you having fun yet?!

Reminders from my Soulful Self aka Supportive Self:
1. Life is akin to riding a bicycle. Keep pedaling because when you stop, you either fall off the bike or stay stationary without forward movement.
2. Every morning I am grateful to be above the ground and breathing because I know there was a woman my age who did not get up today.
3. The Uni-Verse generously gives me 168 hrs/week and trusts that I will use them wisely. When they are gone, what do I have to show for it?
4. Mis-Take is just that, no more no less. Keep taking Action( Act-On), and before long you will have more takes than misses. I AM Winning.
5. Duality is a given on this physical planet: Ups/Downs. Good/Bad. Fear/Love. Left/Right, Heads/Tails etc etc. Ask: What is the gift here for me?
6. In the Sea/Saw of Life: Our heart is the fulcrum between Above and Below. ALL things are a call for Love or the demonstration of it.
7. Getting to know my EGO(Protective Self) vs Soulful(Supportive Self), both are needed to live on this physical planet. Choose to flip: Tails/Heads.
8. The body is the Scuba suit I put on to dive in the ocean of life for about 800,000 hrs. The tank of AIR(Above In Reverse) is free from Source.
ATOMIC HABITS are the vehicle I use daily to balance my PEMS (physical, emotional, mental, spiritual) and stay on my Life Bicycle for a safe, fun, and quality life, the Movie of Nina.
Journey On! Always in my heart pocket.

It’s been simply a journey dedicating the entire year of 2023 to writing and publishing my memoir. I had been dreaming of writing my book for many years, I wanted to share my life’s journey to show how you can make your dreams come true with courage, determination, intention, and gratitude. After the seemingly endless process of writing, editing, and learning how to self-publish, I am very proud to say Simply A Journey is now on Amazon as a paperback, Kindle, and Audiobook (narrated by yours truly).
The process of the above confirmed to me the value of persistence and following through with a project to completion in a timely manner.
First, you must set a specific goal with a specific deadline, i.e. self-publish my memoir by January 20, 2024 (actual published date was January 25, 2024). Second, know what you can do and delegate what you can not. I got prompt questions and support from other writers and trusted friends, I enrolled professional support from Self Publishing School, and I went to a professional studio to record the audiobook. This synergy is crucial and critical in accomplishing a goal, especially really big ones.
Take home message: When you plan, plan to win. When you pay, pay attention.
One of the biggest factors in actually completing our goals is our daily habits. I read a book called “Atomic Habits” by James Clear. And learning to Piggybacking new habits on already existing ones fosters success. We are each given 168 hours every week. What we do with this gift of life is a clear demonstration of our commitment, passion, and purpose.
Ask yourself: How will I feel when I achieve this goal?
Journey on!
